The Growth Collective

Aug 4, 2020

The World Health Organization defines social determinants of health (SDoH) as “the conditions in which people are born, grow, live, work and age…shaped by the distribution of money, power and resources at global, national and local levels.”

As much as we want health to be a simple formula – eat healthy, move more – be healthy, a single factor often does not determine a health outcome; rather, there are a number of physical, social, behavioral, environmental and other factors to consider.

My guest for this episode is doctor Bruce Sherman.  Bruce currently serves medical director for the Cone Health System employee health benefits offering.  Bruce is a researcher employer health benefits strategies, evidence-based equitable benefits design, and the business value of workforce health. In this episode, Bruce shares his expertise to help us better understand the importance of the social determinants of health and their impact on business health and employee wellbeing.
